Sat May 25

The Chandelier Room stage is home to so much talent this Saturday night, we’ve had to add some special reinforcing struts to withstand the awesomeness. But don’t worry, we can handle it – you just sit back, relax, and watch the amazing music from the comfort of our couches, wine glass in hand, a delicious tapas plate primed for leisurely grazing. This is the life!

The Kite Machine (funk/blues/alternative)
Kite Machine frontman Levi Anderson wowed us back in February with a solo set – and now he’s back at The Chandelier Room with his talented band. Their forte is semi-acoustic funk rock, resonating somewhere between the sounds of John Butler Trio and The Black Keys. Cleverly crafted songs matched with rhythmic lead guitar, punchy bass lines and smooth drum grooves produce a dynamic sound and an energetic live performance. Undoubtedly a must-see outfit.

Meg & Paul (pop/indie/rock)
The Meg & Paul equation is simple: take one soaring voice (Meg), add a second voice (Paul), chiming guitar lines (Paul) and winning songs, and you have a set of heartfelt acoustic pop that’s accessible and more than a little loveable.

Ilana Charnelle (jazz/pop)
Inspired by the great crooners of the 1940s and ’50s such as Doris Day, Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland, stylish chanteuse Ilana Charnelle is making her Chandelier Room debut, accompanied by guitarist Shannyn – we’re looking forward to soaking in the nostalgic vibes!

Sat Jun 1

No matter the genre, you’re guaranteed a plethora of quality acoustic talent every weekend at The Chandelier Room. This Saturday night sees the return of three of our recent faves.

La Nouvelle (pop/soul/funk)
A capella vocal duo La Nouvelle have an uncanny knack of turning their voices into an entire band. Funky as hell, these two colourful chicks loop up a storm, whether laying down their own originals or retooled versions of songs by acts as diverse as TLC and Bon Iver. Fun, fun, fun!

Wild Honey Pie (indie/folk/pop)
Chiming guitars, sweet vocal tones, warmly melodic tunes – Wild Honey Pie are as yummy as their name. Come and sample a slice.

Alexis Naylor (soul/pop/folk)
With a pure and resonant voice, cascading beautifully over plaintive piano melodies, Alexis Naylor has that certain magic that gives you goosebumps.

We’re very excited to host a couple of newcomers to our stage this weekend (Slime Dime & The Prairie Kings, and Rohan Kay), alongside old favourite Maddison Wilson. So, tonight will be as thrilling for us as it is for you!

Slime Dime & The Prairie Kings (honky-tonk/jazz/blues)
Is there a more evocative genre descriptor than honky-tonk? You know exactly what you’re going to get: energetic ’40s-style music played on double bass, steel guitar and fiddle, with vocal harmonies and a good-time sound that’s guaranteed to get the joint jumpin’ and boots a-stompin’. The Chandelier Room extends a warm welcome to Slime Dime & The Prairie Kings!

Maddison Wilson (pop/soul/folk)
Maddison Wilson has a biiig voice and the songs to match it. Her soaring, soulful sound on piano and vocals is enriched by talented duo Bodies of Wonderland on percussion and guitar.

Rohan Kay (folk/Celtic)
Rohan Kay’s Celtic-influenced music is as pure and refreshing as a mountain stream. Just one man and his guitar, performing simple, heartwarming folk music to settle you in beautifully on a cold winter’s evening.

Talent, talent, talent – that’s what’s on the menu for tonight. Two regulars and a newbie, all with beautiful songs to share. Add a tapas plate and a bottle of wine and you’ve got yourself a fine, fine time. Dig!

Jenny Biddle (folk/pop/rock)
What more can be said about Jenny Biddle that hasn’t been said before? Voted Melbourne’s Best Busker 2010-2012 and People’s Choice at the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2012, Jen’s songwriting, guitar playing and singing are all second to none. Even her between-song banter has won awards! (Not really, but if there was an award for between-song banter, Jen would be odds-on favourite.) Following the recent launch of her new album Hero In Me and a trip to Italy to build a guitar, Jen’s treating us to another acoustic solo set of her very best. Not to be missed!

Paul Barry (rock/pop/indie)
Paul Barry’s songs are anthemic, emotionally rich and melodically dynamic. He’s been a regular at The Chandelier Room since the start, whether playing solo or as frontman of his former trio Nowra, and we’re delighted to have him back.

Stephanie Mascetta (jazz/soul/pop)
We’re excited to welcome the wonderful Stephanie Mascetta to our stage for the first time. Her honey-sweet vocal tones and playful, emotive songwriting are bound to win you over. Lush!

Two newbies this week, along with an old fave. Diversity, charisma, songwriting excellence – it’s all here! We’ve got it covered! Sit back, relax and enjoy…

Junk Company (psych/blues/rock)
Making their Chandelier Room debut, Junk Company are stripping back the layers of their bluesy, psychedelic rock sound to reveal the tender songwriting beneath. Imagine The Doors awoken after forty years of hibernation and you’re some way towards grasping Junk Company’s woozy, alluring bar-room boogie.

Peta Evans-Taylor (pop/rock/blues)
Spunky rock chick Peta Evans-Taylor doesn’t need a Marshall stack behind her to ooze hard rockin’ charisma – she just needs an acoustic guitar and her wonderful voice to blow audiences away. From upbeat to slow-burn, Peta’s songs hit hard and stay long.

Leigh Sloggett (blues/roots/folk)
Leigh Sloggett’s interpretation of the blues is sheer, downtempo class. He recently launched his new album More Than I Need and we’re delighted to welcome him back to The Chandelier Room, solo and intimate – and as devastatingly emotive as ever. The perfect way to ease you into a fantastic night of music.

Sat Jun 29

We like our Saturday nights soundtracked by the best acoustic music around, so come down and soak in these fine sounds:

Nicolette Forte (roots/soul/pop)
Nicolette is such a regular here at The Chandelier Room, it’s hard to know how to introduce her to anyone who isn’t already familiar with her wonderfully inclusive, feel-good vibe. Well, let’s start with her soulful voice. Then, her backing, which can range from just an acoustic guitar to multiple players on percussion and violin. And her EP, Rescue Me, which is tremendous. Just come and see for yourself!

Kurt Gentle (roots/rock/reggae)
An overdriven 12-string guitar, a stompbox and winning tunes go hand in hand in the world of Kurt Gentle. Kurt will be playing songs off his superb debut album Barefoot Freedom and you’ll be grinning from ear to ear.

Joe Ransom (indie/rock/country)
Joe used to play at The Chandelier Room back in the day, and we’re delighted to have him play here again in support of the release of his new double album The Prospector’s Doubt / Here’s Luck!  His winning style, blending alt-country, folk and indie-rock, is guaranteed to go down a treat.
